FAQ of Cuplock Scaffolding

What is Cuplock scaffolding system?

Cuplock scaffolding is a type of scaffolding characterised by the use of metal cups to lock the beams together in a connection method. Like other types of scaffolding, cuplock scaffolding is a temporary framework network used to support workers during the construction or renovation of structures that require high access points, such as buildings. The overall stability and ease of assembly of the cuplock system makes it the preferred type for projects where large scaffolds must be built quickly and must support relatively heavy loads.

Basic components of the Cuplock scaffolding system

The unique cup-lock scaffold joint system consists of three basic components: the top cup, the bottom cup and the tent. The cup components are in the form of rings, each with a hollow centre that allows a circular vertical bar to pass through it. The single bars have ledges, which are short vertical pieces that are welded or fixed to the end of each bar, forming a T-shape at each end.

Cuplock scaffolding system installation

In the construction of cup-lock scaffolding, the bottom cups are welded to the vertical bars at a fixed pitch, with the cups facing upwards. The crossbeams of the four horizontal bars are inserted down into the cups so that they are perpendicular to the vertical. The top cup is then lowered to the top of the table and tightened with a hammer to securely fix the horizontal to the vertical.

In addition to being extremely robust and quick to assemble, this system is also versatile. Horizontal reinforcement can be added at any interval where the bottom cup is welded to the vertical, or omitted as required. In addition, any number of horizontal bars can be added to the cup lock joints, up to a maximum of four.

Cuplock scaffolding system purchase

Cuplock scaffolding is widely available from the manufacturer in component form and can be assembled on the construction site. Bars and fixings are usually made of galvanised metal which has a protective coating that makes the metal weather resistant. Its corrosion and rust resistance allows Cuplock scaffolding to be used for large outdoor projects.

Cuplock scaffolding system Tips

Many accidents can occur if the scaffold structure is not fully stabilised.

Scaffolding allows workers to reach high places when constructing or renovating buildings.
